‘Taro’ and the Indigenous World

This video clip for ‘Taro’ by Alt-J displays an inspiring montage of scenes from the 1988 film “Powaqqatsi: Life in Transformation.”  For those who aren’t familiar with the movie, it is a cinematic masterpiece that brilliantly depicts the humble splendor of people in the third world and the visible effects of developing into Westernization.  I highly recommend watching it.

Conjuring up my fondest memories of the amazing people I have met, this clip stirs my ageless wanderlust to continue exploring the sheer magnificence that awaits me on this planet.

From the monasteries of Bhutan to the sandy dunes of Arabia, the ice-capped plateau of Tibet to the Himba tribe of Namibia, and the rooftops of Kathmandu to the island of Pemba; here are some photos from my various travels that illustrate the mesmerizing beauty I have found in the faces of the indigenous world.     –  Juju
